the reprisal
like a knife from the shadows
knees bent upon blades of grass
pressed down by the pain
glassy eyes regret the past
and still consequence came
night falls
all over earth
bitter wind consumes
up above
in the pitch
indifferent stars loom
no comfort
no reprieve
like weights on a needle bed
the blood you've bled
marks the path to the end
subduction and pressure
the chamber collapsed
earth has shifted under my feet
and left me trapped
pressed past boiling point
no way back
fall into earth and gaze through the cracks
into the dead of night
cold moon howls
i wept
i saw bats fly from black mountain
i saw doves land on the shore
crescent above and venus below
mottled pair compelled to follow
